SCHOLARSHIP PORTAL OPENS ON MARCH 3

NMAC offers several scholarship opportunities to support attendance at USCHA.  In addition to our general scholarships, we have several programmatic scholarships targeting youth, persons living with HIV 50 and over, long-term survivors and social media. A description of each scholarship category is listed below.

While we wish that we can offer scholarship support to everyone that applies, unfortunately we cannot.  However, we are committed to helping applicants craft a strong submission.  Stay tuned for an upcoming webinar dedicated to submitting a quality scholarship application.  Representatives from each scholarship program will discuss goals and activities and explain what reviewers look for when recommending scholarship awards.  Follow these tips for all applications:

  • Answer all narrative questions completely. There will be a character minimum on the form that will alert you if you haven’t submitted enough text.
  • Review the descriptions for each scholarship program. For example, the HIV 50+ Strong & Healthy scholarships have a requirement that applicants work with aging and HIV+ populations.  If you do not meet this requirement, it is unlikely that your application will be selected.
  • Share your story and personal experience. Discuss what you hope to learn at the conference and the impact it will make in your life and the lives of others.

The webinar and tips are part of an overall toolkit that will be posted prior to the opening of the scholarship submission portal on March 3.  It will include the following:

  • Sample scholarship applications
  • Recommendations on how to raise funds to support your registration and travel costs (if not awarded)
  • List of organizations that are administering separate USCHA scholarship processes

The toolkit will be posted by February 28.
